I Go/Pergi

I watched Yasmin’s Ahmad’s latest movie “Talentime” with CN- recently and we totally love this song. It has both an english version called I Go by Pete Teo and a Malay version called Pergi by Aizat.

Funny how the lyrics are quite the opposite. The english version is about a person is leaving, and the Malay version is about a person being left behind.

I Go – Pete Teo

G – D/F# – C/add9 – G
So long, fare thee well
Em – G – Am – D
The dancer and the dancing days have taken leave and fell
G – D/F# – C/add9 – G
So turn down this bed of stone
Em – Am – C – D – G – Am – Am/B
Quench me with the deadly nightshade from the rose that you belong

C – G – Am – Am
The long December rain is falling now
C – G – Em – Em
Running down on streets to nowhere
C – G – Am – Am
Music is my life, you’re my sweetest nightingale
Bm7flat5 – E7 – Am – Am/B – C
But I can’t hear it here no more
G – D/F# – C/add9 – C/add9
And I go
G – D/F# – C/add9 – C/add9
I go

Hush now, don’t shake or break
Words have fallen silent like soldiers to the grave
No matter what they do or say
Lay me on the sleepy meadow by the tracks upon your face

Pergi – Aizat

Sayu terpisah
Hikayat indah kini hanya tinggal sejarah
Berhembus angin rindu
Begitu nyamannya terhidu wangian kasihmu

Hujan lebat mencurah kini
Bagaikan tiada henti
Kaulah laguku kau irama terindah
Tak lagi kudengari
Kau pergi.. pergi..

Sepi tanpa kata
Terdiam dan kaku tak daya kau kulupa
Apa pun kata mereka
Biarkan kenangan berbunga di ranting usia

Pieces

Saw this quote somewhere around FB…

You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, even months analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together. Justifying what could’ve, should’ve, would’ve happened. Or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the f*** on.

What makes a fool…

“The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.” — William Shakespeare, 1546-1616

“The wise man knows he doesn’t know. The fool doesn’t know he doesn’t know.” — Lao Tzu

What can be more irritating than dealing with fools who think they are some hell of a great?! I really can’t stand those super egoistic people who don’t even know that they don’t know or are simply to proud to admit that they need help. In other lines of work, perhaps the worst that can happen is a lost contract, some paperwork mess etc. But in my line of work, when you screw up, people die. Full stop.

Whatever happened to “First, do no harm”?

Darn frustrating.

Argh.

About success…

Just watched Fame today at the cinema with my sis. It was a good movie but there were only 5 of us watching the show. I suppose it was not the peak hour for watching movies. Haha. Anyway, I loved this quote that Kay Panabaker gave at the graduation ceremony…

“There are a few things that Success is not…
Success is not fame, money or power
Success is waking up in the morning so excited about what you have to do that you literally FLY out of the door
Success is getting to work with the people you love
Success is finding a way of connecting and binding them together
Success is connecting with the world
Success is falling asleep knowing you did the best you could
Success is joy, friendship and freedom
Success is LOVE”

Looks like I’m still many miles away from success as I am definitely not excited about my daily work and I definitely do not fly out of the door to get to work. In fact, half the time, the alarm clock rings til it’s dead and I still have not managed to drag myself out of bed.

Sigh…
